Yesterday, the access control for the library Stelios Ioannou came into operation! An additional security level with controlled access to the library of the University of Cyprus.

Now everybody can come in and out of the Stelios Ioannou library using their own access card.

The university ID/library card is required

  • for Entering the library and exit, from 30/5/2019 (access control gates)
  • for Borrowing (University community, and external members-subscription)
  • at a Self-Checkout Station (University community, and external members-subscription)
  • Multifunction machines (copy, print or scan)

The Library of the University of Cyprus is accessible to anyone interested.
Since yesterday, 30/05/2019, an additional level of security has been added to the entrance and exit of the library. The access control system. All those who are interested should ensure to get their own access  card for the library. The University Card / Library Card is required for entry / exit to and from the Library.

The “Stelios Ioannou ‘Pliroforisis- Library Center, named in memory of the wife of the donor, the late Elli Ioannou. The library was designed by the internationally renowned French architect Jean Nouvel.

The Library is open to the public, offering a range of services to anyone interested. Among these, it functions as the main research library, seeking to contribute to education, development and quality of life in society.

The Library is fully electronic regarding its use and hybrid regarding its content, since its collections include printed, digital and audiovisual material. All material is accessible through EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), a federated search tool that provides easy access to printed, digital and audiovisual material, as well as to the full text of articles, through a simple search. Printed material can also be searched at the library catalogue, while electronic material is accessible from the library website.

Piperaris contributed to the provision and installation of a complete solution for complete automated library management using RFID, sorting system, automatic lending machines, etc. This advanced technology serves the needs of the new state-of-the-art Information Center – Stelios Ioannou Library of the University of Cyprus.
We congratulate all those who have contributed to the successful completion of such a project which is a gem for our country and for Europe in general. It also contributes significantly to the culture of Cyprus with the security that such a space requires and obtains!
